The work is displayed from the most to the least recent. The objective paintings are primarily concerned with natural forms and the way they merge and emerge in space. The more abstract mixed media work done thus far deals with the way forms interact and appear to dissolve into and replace one another. The tapestry like effect that results from disintegrating layers, laid side by side, has consistently drawn my attention. I see the objective and abstract work as related- different ways of observing natural phenomena. This site is in progress; earlier examples of objective and abstract paintings are being added.

Mixed Media-Non-representational-Delicate Debris

Delicate Debris

Delicate Debris began with a plastercast of the upper part of my torso, head and arm. When I hung the cast on the wall, I then felt compelled to destroy it, and cut a hole in the hanging hand. This was in rememberance of a golden avocado pit once held. The piece was completed with paper and bits of ornate fabric, and other once valuable bits and pieces. My body, partially detroyed, together with these other materials taken out of their normal contexts, their defining edges also destroyed, reminded me of the debris one finds on the beach, of items once prized for other uses, but still beautiful. The partial plexiglass on the upper left corner symbolizes the former value.
