The focus of all my work is "Form". The objective paintings are primarily concerned with natural forms and the way they merge and emerge in space. The more abstract mixed media work done thus far deals with the way forms interact and appear to dissolve into and replace one another. The tapestry like effect that results from disintegrating layers, laid side by side, has consistently drawn my attention. All of the work is inspired by nature. This site is in progress; earlier examples of objective and abstract paintings are being added.

The focus of all my work is Form. I work both in painting and mixed media. The paintings are mostly concerned with natural forms and the way they merge and emerge in space. The mixed media "paintings" done thus far deals more specifically with surface; showing the natural processes that are common to all forms in vaious stages of evolution,(disintegration) and exchange. In "Images", for example, the exchange that takes place is the reversal of darks and lights: the dark silver, reflective areas become extremely bright, while the white areas (clay, gesso and pigment) turn quite dark as the natural light that it was created in, and best suits it, diminishes. Two sided pieces show different aspects of the same subject.
In the objective paintings this exchange might be represented as a literal change of place, (as the exchange of water and sand in "Revolution") or possibly as the way the eye is confused by what is outside and what is inside- which is more dominant, the interior or exterior space-when examining a shell ("Arabesque"). In "Un Par de Berenjenas", I was most interested in the space between the two eggplants- how the colors of each merged in that area, and how their forms are only faintly discerned in the waning light in which I painted them.
Many recent works have been painted in twilight. I am interested in finding the often vivid colors that tend at this time of day to give a luminesence to the forms being considered. I want to explore and share the way I see color.
All of my work is inspired by nature.
